    The requirement you are thinking of is for the dryer duct and its connections, not for the transition to dryer duct connection.

    That is covered under the listing and labeling and the installation instructions of the appliances.

    The transition to dryer duct connection is a backward connection for anything downstream of that connection, i.e., for any part of the dryer duct itself.

    I agree with Jerry always follow the Operations Manual for Dryers, coupled with the current IMC. HERE IS A COPY!
