Residential Combination Inspector in the Raleigh, NC Area
I have a client who is moving from DFW to the Raleigh, NC area, and is looking for an ICC-Certified Residential Combination Inspector. Anyone on here fit that bill?
Thanks,

Well, I guess that ICC R-5s are thin on the ground in North Carolina . . .

Re: Residential Combination Inspector in the Raleigh, NC Area
Aaron,
We recently (September 3rd) moved to Asheville, NC; and previously bought a vacation house I'm Asheville in January - my experience is that inspectors trained ... at least knowledgeable ... in the codes seems to be lacking.
At least compared to what I was used to in South Florida. When we moved to Ormond Beach (next to Daytona Beach) in 2006, the inspectors in that area were also somewhat lacking, so I hired a good inspector friend who lived in the Melbourne area and was willing to make the 2+ hour drive.
I'm not sure it is as much of a location thing as it is a job (versus a profession some of us took/take it as) and their inspection level seems 'dumbed down' to 'make real estate agents happy' with fluff and 'oh, wow' stuff instead of substance.
I suspect we all know who/where/when that trend started.
I am glad I retired from HI in 2006 and went into code inspections ... albeit AHJ inspectors were having pressure put on them to dumb down too. I lasted until 2015 and retired from code inspections because I couldn't overlook what was being asked of us.
There are still some good HIs in the business who treat it as a profession, but I suspect we lose some each year to retirement and for other reasons too.
