New Member Introduction
Hello, my name is Vernice Toliver. I am a retired structural engineer. For one of my employers I inspected residential timber structures. Issues encountered and reported included:
- foundation differential settlement
- undersize window and door headers
- Improper nailing for shearwalls
- improper materials
- improper curing of structural concrete
- excessive spacing of timber studs, floor joists, and roof trusses
I am looking forward to learning from present members and responding to threads where beneficial.

Welcome Vernice,
Always like to see engineer participation in certain topics, so I'm glad you're here.

Re: New Member Introduction
Vernice, I'm interested in hearing to what extent these errors could have been avoided had the builders followed code requirements, IBC or IRC or what-all.
